The Hour of Code

The Hour of Code - Get into the Code Mode!

5th & 6th Class

During the week of December 8th-14th, over 180 countries are participating in the Hour of Code 2014, when young people get a chance to be creative with computers! It’s taking place in schools globally, from Alaska to Zambia and from Kenya to Kilflynn, where Mrs. Kearney’s 5th and 6th class pupils are making full use of our new ICT facilities.

The children are using a programme called ‘Scratch’ which allows them to create simple games and puzzles. When people learn to code in ‘Scratch’, they learn important strategies for solving problems, designing projects, and communicating ideas.

So, if you like the sound of the ‘Scratch’ programme, why not check it out? Go on, get cracking ‘coz it’s cool to code!
